Subscription & Purchase Plans
Under the subscription plan, the client has NO up
front cash purchase outlay and NO term commitment. You simply pay
for services on an “as used” basis. If you prefer to purchase
CASELODE, you use the “Purchase Price” column.

To determine your
cost, locate the appropriate bracket in column number 1 which represents
the number of “billable timekeepers” in your firm. Then
decide if you prefer to subscribe to CASELODE or to purchase the
products outright. You only pay for timekeepers, regardless of the
number of
users actually entering data.
Subscription
Option: If you prefer to subscribe to CASELODE, once you
have located the proper category in column 1, you will find the monthly
subscription cost in column 2. Columns 3 and 4 do not apply to this
plan. This rate is for the entire firm and not
per timekeeper. The rate includes the products, product updates
and ongoing technical support. This option is not an on-line service.
You install CASELODE on your computer(s) and your data never leaves
your office. Firms in South Carolina must add 5% sales tax to the
monthly subscription rate. All prices shown are subject to change
without notice.
Purchase
Option: If you prefer to purchase CASELODE, once you have
located the proper category in column 1, you will find your purchase
price in column 3. Column number 4 only applies to the purchase option
and is strictly optional. Monthly maintenance includes product updates
and technical support and may be paid on a monthly or annual basis.
If paid annually, we render a discount equal to one month free. Those
clients who elect not to subscribe to the monthly maintenance plan
may pay for technical support services on an as needed basis. The
current rate for technical support is $75.00 per hour with a minimum
of $45.00 per incident. Approximately ninety-five percent of our
clients do subscribe to monthly maintenance. Firms in South Carolina
must add 5% sales tax to the product purchase price. All prices shown
are subject to change without notice.
Upgrading to next level:
You may upgrade as needed to any other level of timekeepers by paying the subscription
rate for the new level. If you have purchased CASELODE, you simply pay the
difference in the bracket you are in and the one you are upgrading to. This
feature accommodates firm growth, etc.
Client Support:
Client support is based upon the plan you select (see Subscription and Purchase
Options above). Updates are available by USPS and on our Web site. The only
additional charges are custom modification of reports and data repair labor
for problems caused by hardware and/or power failures. All users are encouraged
to maintain adequate back ups of their data of course. Morningstar reserves
the right to limit each telephone call to one hour.
Data Conversion:
We will provide data conversions from other products such
as PCLaw, Pins, Timeslips, TABS III, Quickbooks, etc. These will be
priced on an “as requested” basis, but in many cases will
be performed at no charge if your product offers the option to export
to an ASCII file or to Excel.
Pricing Philosophy:
We have been developing and marketing accounting software
to law firms since the early 1980’s. While some of these client
firms only purchased one or two of our products initially, it quickly
became evident that all law firms need a totally integrated accounting
solution (all products from the same vendor). To this end, we have
changed our philosophy to concentrate on solving the entire problem
for the law firm. Therefore we have taken the approach of “bundling” all
necessary products into CASELODE for Windows. The only exception to
this approach is the first item on our price list that is targeted
to the firm just getting started. For subscribers, having the products,
technical support and ongoing updates bundled into a single monthly
service, the law firm can easily budget for its accounting software
costs.

Payment
Terms:
Subscription based clients must pay each month in advance. You
may elect monthly billing or have the fee charged to VISA or MasterCard.
Should you purchase your products, we accept prepayment, VISA or MasterCard.
If you have purchased your products and elect not to subscribe to our
ongoing monthly maintenance plan, you must pay for technical support
services as rendered, via either VISA or MasterCard.

| Hardware
Considerations / Requirements |
The following are “minimum
suggested requirements” for the proper operation of our products:
- All products require Windows 95, 98, NT, XP, 2000 or ME. Networks supported
are Windows, Novell, NT and other networks that are Net Bios compatible.
- All products are network ready, allowing simultaneous access.
- We recommend 512mb of RAM per
workstation as a minimum (preferably 256 to 512). We also recommend
that your workstations
be of Pentium
quality
running at least 500 Mhz and contain a CD Rom. Additionally, monitors
should be capable of displaying 800 x 600 resolution. We recommend
a minimum size of 17” for monitors.
- We recommend at least four gigabytes of disk space, but his can vary
with the size of the firm and the length of time you desire to retain
historical data. We also recommend that you have a PC with a ZIP
drive or a CD Writer.
- We recommend a Windows compatible laser printer for both reports
and checks.
